Innovative Approach to Animal Productivity

Prolifos

With increasing awareness, there is an increase in the hunt for natural alternatives to replace the use of antibiotics, which act as growth promoters. Prebiotics can be considered as potential alternatives to antibiotics. ‘PROLIFOS’ is one such probiotic for pigs that is not hydrolyzed by small intestinal glycosidases. The microflora of the intestine metabolize it to form short-chain carboxylic acids, L-lactate, CO, hydrogen, and other metabolites. It enhances the multiplication of beneficial microorganisms such as Bifidobacterium and Lactobacilli and hence increases their population. It suppresses levels of pathogenic bacteria, such as Clostridium pefringens and E. coli, in the intestine of swine. The overall growth-promoting effect of PROLIFOS includes modulation of intestinal microorganisms, optimum levels of intestinal SCFA, healthy mucosal morphology, an increase in mineral bioavailability, and a positive effect on immune responses, which makes it a promising solution for providing natural alternatives for swine.
